Are expansion joints needed between each room?

Do you need to include an expansion joint with click floors?

Yes, we always recommend an expansion joint of 5 mm on all sides so that your click floor can expand and shrink as the temperature changes. You can install the floor over an area of 20m width and 20m length without discontinuations. In principle, discontinuations between different rooms (profiles) are not needed if the total length is no more than 20 linear metres. Unless there are large temperature differences (> 12°C) between the different rooms, then it is better to install a profile anyway. Even if one room has underfloor heating and the other does not, a profile is necessary so that both parts can move independently of each other.

Do not use (flexible) silicone to seal the expansion joint! Use the accompanying profiles and skirting boards to finish the area neatly. These are available at all Floorify dealers!

Do you need to include an expansion joint with gluedown floors?

No, with a gluedown floor, there’s no need to include an expansion joint. Since the floor is fully bonded to the subfloor, it remains stable and is hardly affected by expansion or shrinkage. This means you can seamlessly install it across multiple rooms even if one space has underfloor heating and the other doesn’t. The result is a smooth, uninterrupted finish throughout your entire home.
