Do you need to take an expansion joint into account when installing a Floorify vinyl floor?

With Floorify click floors, it is mandatory to provide a 5 mm expansion gap all around, because these floors are installed as a floating floor in combination with an underlay. Since they are not attached to the subfloor, they need space to expand or contract with temperature changes.

You can install a click floor without additional breaks over a surface of up to 20 metres in length and 20 metres in width.

⚠️ In some situations, transition profiles are required:

  • When there are temperature differences between rooms greater than 12°C

  • When one room has underfloor heating and the other does not

In these cases, it’s best to provide an expansion joint so both parts can move independently.

Important: Do not use (flexible) silicone to seal the expansion joint! Use the accompanying profiles and skirting boards to finish the area neatly.

With Floorify gluedown floors, an expansion gap is not required. These floors are glued directly to the subfloor and are therefore extremely dimensionally stable. They barely expand or shrink, even with temperature changes or when continuing through multiple rooms.

Even if one room has underfloor heating and the next does not, the result remains seamless and elegant.
