Can you install Floorify clickfloors on any surface?
You can install a Floorify click floor on just about any surface. This can include hard, level, non-suspended subfloors such as concrete, sand cement, anhydrite, wood, chipboard, MDF or ceramic tiles.
The subfloor must meet all the prescribed conditions and flatness tolerances in our installation instructions.
There must be no traces of plaster, paint, glue, oil, grease...
The subfloor must be clean, flat, permanently dry, and stable.
The subfloor must not be soft, springy, or damaged, and must not be loose in any case.
The surface must satisfy a few conditions:
Roughness and unevenness
Roughness and unevenness in the subfloor can cause unevenness in the floor surface and thus accelerate wear in the floor or click system. As such, the subfloor cannot show more than 5 mm disparity over a length of 2 linear metres. Slight slopes can be bridged thanks to the strong Floorify Rigid Core in our floors, combined with the Floorify underlays.
Stable
It is important that the surface is stable before starting installation. In other words, the surface mustn’t be springy.
Moisture
Although Floorify floors are insensitive to moisture, they are not intended for use as a moisture barrier or waterproof system. In the event of moisture, the screed must be sufficiently dried out or vapour sealed before installation of the floor. That way, you avoid harmful mould and/or floor panels that push upwards with risk of permanent deformations.
Underfloor heating
Floorify floors can be used on a subfloor with conventional water-based underfloor heating and cooling and on thermostat-regulated electric floor heating integrated into the subfloor or with a minimum 9 mm levelling. This is provided that the temperature at the surface of the subfloor is no higher than 29°C. The room temperature must remain constant at between 18°C and 25°C before, during and for at least 24 hours after installation. The temperature of the underfloor heating system can be gradually increased by a maximum of 5°C per day until room temperature is achieved.
