Can you install a vinyl floor on glued or nailed parquet?

Yes, Floorify vinyl floors can be installed both as a click floor (floating installation) and as a gluedown floor on a stable and solid subfloor, such as glued or nailed parquet.

Click floors

Floorify click floors are rigid and installed as a floating system, making them suitable for use on existing wooden subfloors such as glued or nailed parquet.

Preparations for wooden subfloors:

  • Ensure the floor is level and nail down any loose boards.

  • Check the subfloor for signs of mould or insect infestation.

  • If needed, apply a leveling compound to correct height differences or irregularities.

  • The crawl space beneath the wooden floor must be properly ventilated: at least 4 cm² of ventilation openings per m² of floor.

  • The moisture content of the wooden subfloor must not exceed 10%.

Gluedown floors

Floorify gluedown floors can also be installed over glued or nailed parquet, but require more precise subfloor preparation. Because these floors are glued directly to the subfloor, it must be perfectly flat, clean, hard, and stable.

Extra considerations for glue-down floors:

  • Irregularities, gaps, or transitions in the parquet must be completely leveled.

  • The wooden subfloor must be firmly fixed, with no movement or springiness.

  • Check the moisture content (maximum 10%) and ensure proper ventilation underneath.
